Description Technical Specs Extended Information

Baader Planetarium Moon & Skyglow (Neodymium) filter--cuts light from streetlights & lunar skyglow. Leaves colors intact & enhanced for high contrast planetary views. 2.0"
Features
  •  Selective contrast enhancing filter, especially
  • suitable for all reflector type telescopes and
  • true Apochromates. (Economy refractor owners
  • might consider the Contrast-Booster Filter
  • instead, featuring an additional dielectric UVblocker,
  • to eliminate the unfocused blue part of
  • the spectrum.)
  •  Transmitts a maximum of light (– after all LIGHT
  • is “the hottest commodity” in this astronomy
  • business...), while blocking unwanted skyglow
  • and many street light emissions.
  •  Especially effective on small economy telescopes
  • which cannot benefit from expensive narrowband
  • nebula filters due to the huge light-loss
  • involved.
  •  Unique selective blocking feature of the
  • NEODYMIUM element greatly reduces glare,
  • without reducing recognition of important color
  • and brightness variations.
  •  Transmission within the selected wave bands
  • exceeds 95%.
  •  Fits all standard filter threads,
  •  Longs to be combined with an UV/IR-Cut-Filter
  • for all CCD and digital camera work.
  • This combination works extremely well
  • due to cutting all unfocused light – an absolute
  • MUST for digital imaging.
  •  Planeoptically polished! Retains full image
  • resolution – even at highest magnification, way
  • above 200 times, or during eyepiece projection
  • work – even in front of a binocular viewer.
  •  Ultrahard and durable Ion-beam hardened
  • coatings, may be cleaned anytime without fear.
  •  No image degradation as with ”flame polished”
  • filters.
  •  Available in 11⁄4“ and 2“ size at very affordable
  • price.
  •  Non-vignetting filter cells, larger in aperture than
  • any competing design, featuring a CNC milled
  • “crown” for ease of handling and attachment.

5 of 5 Best Jupiter filter by far August 8, 2022
Reviewer: Greg from Phoenix
This is quite easily the best filter for Jupiter. The cloud bands are more distinct and the contrast is elevated. While the Baader contrast booster is easily the best mars filter and is good on Saturn, it provides this blue tint on Jupiter which is not ideal that's why the M&SG is better on the gas giant since it offers a more natural view. I look forward to trying it on a full moon also. I suppose I did not really need a filter for Jupiter but I'm quite happy with the results. Also, great work by Don personally inspecting the filter. He's the best.

5 of 5 Best filter for Jupiter August 4, 2020
Reviewer: Vishal Kasliwal from Sunnyvale, CA United States
Another must have filter for dedicated planetary observers. This filter is great for Jupiter, boosting fine contrast and making some belts much clearer and easier to see.
