4 of 5 Howie Glatter 1.25" TuBlug January 12, 2023
Reviewer: ARDELL
I originally tried to use this 1.25" TuBlug with a 2"/1.25" Farpoint laser. There was enough tolerance differences between the two to permit the heavy laser to sag enough to make this combo not work well. I purchased the Glatter 1.25" laser and ALL my issues went away! Not knocking the Farpoint laser at all, just saying the TuBlug was designed with the Glatter laser in mind. That all behind - the Glatter laser/TuBlug combo is fantastic! It is so easy now to check the Primary mirror's collimation. I do agree with the other reviewers about the thin tube wall and the screw's ability to clamp down on the laser, the tube wall needs to be twice as thick. If it were not for this one issue, I'd given it 5 stars. However, with the Glatter laser, the screw really isn't needed, it's a snug fit. Also - another thumbs-up for Don and his excellent customer service.

Purchased this along with a 1.25 Glatter laser collimater and parallizer.  Achieved perfect collimation quickly but the 1.25" tublug will not secure the lazer as delivered.  There are is insufficient wall in the tublug for the retaining screw threads to even begin engaging when the laser is in place.  Reviewing the web I see the same product being sold with what appears to be a nylon insert and locking screw which may solve this problem.  However the product received must be a different revision.  Disappointed in what are otherwise quality products.

3 of 5 It works, but build quality is unimpressive November 17, 2020
Reviewer: Brian Dobbs from Los Osos, CA United States
It works, so I can't complain, but it was frustrating to find the laser set screw was stripped right out of the box. I have to just live with the fact that my laser is not held captive in the TuBlug. Like I said, it still works (the advantage of a barlowed laser is that the laser alignment is not a factor, after all), but I just know that my laser is going to tumble out and bite the dust hard one of these nights.  I don't think the fundamental design of this set screw would ever work anyways; the screw itself is cheap plastic, and the female threads are cut into the thin-wall tube of the collimator.  Even with a metal set screw, there's just not enough meat in the tube wall for good thread engagement.
Overall though, it's still better than a home-built barlowed laser, where you run to the front of the scope and crane your neck to look up the focuser every time you make a collimation adjustment.
Kudos to EyepiecesEtc.com for an excellent buying experience, though.  You guys rock!

3 of 5 Howie Glatter 1.25" TuBlug November 15, 2020
Reviewer: John Willett from Garrett Park, MD United States
The unit is nicely made and functional, BUT the nylon (?) thumb screw that's supposed to hold the laser unit into the TuBlug isn't sturdy enough to thread into the only 2-3 threads in the side of the thin sleeve, so it pops out when you try to tighten it -- poor design.
My solution was to substitute a stainless steel 10/32 screw, but the unit should have  been made with either thicker walls or a thicker bushing at the thread location) so that there are more threads to support the soft nylon.
