| Farpoint's own
laser collimator is designed and built to be the most rugged, and best
aligned collimator on the market. We
start by machining the collimator housing using our high precision CNC lathe,
maintaining the body diameter to within .0002" tolerance. The body is then anodized bright red. Next laser diode is mounted in a specially
machined brass housing in order to facilitate precision alignment. The diode is then installed into the
collimator body and supported by eight alignment screws. The large number of screws allow for a
precision alignment that stays put even if the collimator is dropped. We
align our laser collimators so that the laser spot stays centered upon itself
over a 120 foot alignment distance.
Finally the collimator is powered by a lithium battery and finished
with a distinctive red pushbutton positive click action switch. |
