Baader Contrast Booster Filter 2"
A unique filter for many different astronomical tasks – incomparable in acuity. A strong minus-violet filter for achromats and an EXCELLENT PLANETARY FILTER.
Features
  • Eliminates the color error of economy
  • Refractors

  • Clearly puts the real quality of the lens on display

  • Removes the bluish „hue“ (= lack of
  • contrast) during lunar-, planetary-,
  • solar- and terrestrial observation!

  • Strongly emphasizes surface detail on
  • Jupiter and Mars! If you have never seen
  • the GRS (Great Red Spot) on Jupiter –
  • with this filter you will!

  • Over 95% transmission – provides a
  • bright, brilliant image compared to the
  • usual dark green color filters, used to
  • bring out detail on Jupiter.
  • Color recognition will be retained!

  • The ultimate in lunar filters! Moon
  • (and Sun!) appear much more natural in
  • color (with a slight yellowish tint),
  • compared to the usual low priced dark
  • green Moon-filters, usually offered for
  • beginners telescopes.

  • Completely removes distracting false
  • color and the resulting smeared
  • and washed out image details. You have
  • never ever seen the Moon or the Sun
  • (with AstroSolar Safety Film) so tack
  • sharp in an economy priced telescope!

  • Blocks atmospheric „stray light“ (skyglow).
  • Sky-background turns into pitch black!

  • Fits each and every standard filter thread;

  • Combines with the (planeoptically
  • polished) BAADER Infrared Cut-Filter.
  • In this combination all blue scatter as well
  • as unfocused near infrared light is
  • completely removed – an absolute MUST
  • for digital imaging!

  • Planeoptically polished, suitable for
  • being used in front of a binocular viewer,
  • or for afocal image projection during digital imaging (way in front
  • of the focal plane!)

  • No deterioration of resolution with
  • magnifications of 200 x and more – as with „raw polished“
  • (flame polished) glass!

  • Substrate (glass melt)
  • Neodymium doped glass

  • Coating /rear face: 7-layer
  • hard-multicoating,
  • featuring 0,25% reflection

  • Coating/front face: 23-layer
  • dielectric long pass blocker

  • Ionbeam hardened coatings
  • on both faces, absolutely
  • scratch resistant – may be cleaned
  • any time without fear

  • A significant part of City Light
  • Air Pollution, as well as Atmospheric
  • Airglow is removed from the
  • telescopic image.

5 of 5 Best on Mars and Saturn June 25, 2022
Reviewer: Greg from Phoenix
This is such a great filter on Mars and Saturn. Obviously, it's the best mars filter around but it works great on Saturn too! The Cassini division is more pronounced with the contrast booster but the cloud bands are what really stood out with this filter. It was as if the cloud bands revealed themselves like never before. The layers were more distinct and colorful. Great stuff!

This filter works very nice for looking at the banding on Jupiter and increased visibility of the rings on Saturn, it is also very nice on moon craters. I recommend!

5 of 5 I agree with Don's review on this. August 18, 2021
Reviewer: MacDaddy from Northwestern Wisconsin, United States
With Jupiter and Saturn ( amongst other objects) in our Southern sky this Summer, We found we could see much more detail that we didn't know we were missing. We're new to astronomy, (really new to filters), so when we plopped this in, there were some "happy feet" and "happy hands" in the air when we could visualize the change from "cool" to ""sweet!". Once again, Don, thank you for your explanation of this product in your periodic email and for the suggestion. You probably saved us significant amounts of time and money, trying to figure out ourselves.

5 of 5 Contrast Booster Filter October 10, 2020
Reviewer: Mark from Roseville, MN United States
Don made a very informative presentation at our Astro Club meeting.  Bought this filter for Mars and other planets.  Fast shipping and filter works great showing details of Mars from a first ring suburb.
