5 of 5 APM 13mm 100° eyepiece is a game-changer November 20, 2020

With a manual altaz mount (even with fine adjustment controls), tracking an object can be a significant distraction. With ordinary eyepieces (AFOV ~ 50°) and a magnification of around 50x, the object will remain in the field for, say 3 minutes. Naturally, as magnification is increased, the object leaves the field proportionally faster, so that at 100x or more, the frequent tracking adjustments and the attendant vibrations detract seriously from studying the object.

The 100° AFOV of the APM/Lunt 13mm eyepiece means that at, say 120x, the object remains in the field as long as at 50x with an ordinary eyepiece. The APM/Lunt optic is also commendably sharp.

5 of 5 Upgrade from Oron Stratus July 13, 2020

I've had my telescope a year and the difference between the HDC and the Stratus was just stunning.  Well worth the investment.  Super fast shipping and everything was extremely well packed.

Great eyepiece. Light weight for a 100 degree. Ordering all soon. I like the choice of going 1.25” or 2”. Though I like keeping it at 2” all times. It’s a great eyepiece at an even greater price. Don’s the man. Quick shipping.

Don's contributions at Cloudy Nights is the primary reason I purchased from him. Having former experience with this line gave me confidence in the optics. I bought from Eyepiecesetc based on Don's integrity and how he supports the forum.
